Where do I begin? What an exciting time to be a Bryson Cowboy. If we were a professional athletic team, I would say that we had an excellent off-season in the free agent market. I am excited about the new people that we have hired. This seems to be a dedicated, hard-working group that are fitting in very well with our current staff. Our current staff was instrumental in our school being a TEA Recognized School District. Our board, administration, and teachers have made a commitment to the C-Scope curriculum, which has helped us reach this rating. We will continue with C-Scope, benchmarking, study island, and an additional program at the elementary and middle school, No Excuses. This new program focuses on the assumption that all students can learn. We believe that each student should be prepared and have the expectation to go to college.
At the August 16th board meeting our board called for a bond election for November 2. We will be conducting community meetings in the future for more details. In a nutshell, we are proposing a new facility, when finished, the only current building we will be using will be the competition gym. The amount of the bond is 13.3 million. If the voters approve this measure, we will also use fund balance money to complete the track, concession stand, restrooms, and dressing rooms at the football field. This has been a vision since the field was turned and rebuilt in the 1990's.
We have had a great start to this school year. I encourage you to attend pep rallies and other school functions to support our students. We are very proud of our student body. They are a hard-working bunch and make me proud to be from Bryson. I would like to leave you with this quote,
"An excuse is made when all hope is lost and defeat is accepted". No Excuses!
