University of Texas at Austin- Historically students who were not regularly admitted to University of Texas at Austin were admitted to participate in the Provisional Admission Program. In the past there has been no limit on the number of students allowed to enroll provisionally. However, since enrollment numbers have grown to such proportions, the University is considering changes to the Provisional Program beginning with the 2001-2002 year. The proposal is to have regular admission students take 12 credit hours over the summer, with no gpa requirements. The remaining freshman applicants not regularly admitted become part of the Provisional program but will attend a UT system component insituttion with a guarantee of transfer after they earn 30 credit hours and a gpa of 3.0. If approved there will no longer be a Provisional

If you are completing the Recommended Program for Graduation then you may well qualify for the TEXAS Grant (Toward Excellence, Access, & Success)
The amount you can receive depends on the number of hours taken and the type of institution (what kind of school you go to), but in general, it is the amount equal to your tuition and fees. Approximately $1,200 per semester for university students, $470 per semester for community college students and $700 per semester for technical college students, based on enrollment of 12 hours per semester. One of the really great things about this grant is that you can receive awards for up to 150 semester credit hours or for six years, whichever comes first. Of course, you have to maintain certain academic standards. You also have to show financial need and apply for any available financial aid. You cannot have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving a controlled substance.
